113-2國際學院英語寫作比賽辦法

一、宗旨:

比賽旨在激發參賽者的寫作潛力,提升其英語寫作技巧,同時培養批判性思維和問題解決能力。透過這樣的活動,參賽者不僅能夠增強語言能力,還能在表達自我觀點和情感方面獲得更多的自信和經驗。此外,這場比賽期望能夠促進文化交流,並鼓勵參賽者在全球化的背景下,更好地理解和運用英語。本比賽希望提供本校有理念、有想法的學生一個倡議的舞台,也藉由參加此全校性競賽,讓個人在校學習歷程更有亮點。

二、內容:

內容的部分是S D G S相關的主題。每篇文章都需要展現出清晰的邏輯結構、豐富的詞彙運用以及流暢的語言表達,並能夠深刻地探討選定主題,傳達作者的獨立見解。

三、 參賽資格:

1. 目前就讀於靜宜大學之在學學生(不含交換生)、本籍生、國際生、研究生皆可報名。

2. 1人報名參加,名額有限,50位。

3. 寫作時間規定:共50分鐘,超過規定時間,將予以扣分。

4. 題目:當天公告。

四、寫作評分標準: 

內容 (內容有組織、架構、切題度、使用明確且適當的解釋、例子、使用多樣的句型、適當的詞彙選擇和慣用語、內容須有統一性、和連貫性): 60%

英語表達能力 (準確度、流暢度、用字): 40%

五、比賽獎勵:

第一名   獎金 6,000 元、獎狀乙紙 

第二名   獎金 4,000 元、獎狀乙紙

第三名   獎金 3,000 元、獎狀乙紙            

佳作三名 獎金 2,000 元、獎狀乙紙(每名)

六、競賽規則:

1. 參賽者最晚應於賽前十分鐘至競賽地點憑本校學生證報到入座。逾時未到者視為自動棄權。

2. 採現場即席寫作。題目於競賽開始時當場公布。

3. 參賽者請自備文具,一律以藍色或黑色原子筆或鋼筆書寫,可用修正液或修正帶。以其他筆具書寫將不予計分。

4. 作品內容限以英文書寫。若未按照規定格式及內容撰寫,作品將不予評比。

5. 完成報名入座後不得隨意離場,賽時亦不得與他人討論及互動。

七、報名時間:

2.比賽日期:114425()12:10-13:00 方濟樓109教室

3.頒獎典禮安排於114512(星期一)中午時間舉行。

八、注意事項 :

1. 本中心收到報名資料之後,將於5 個工作天內回覆確認信。為確保參賽資格,期限截止後若未收到確認信,務必請主動與活動承辦人聯繫。

2.違反學術倫理者,將取消其參賽與得獎 資格。

3. 來稿嚴禁盜用他人作品,一經查證屬實,本中心將取消其得獎資格,並追回獎金及獎狀。若違法,其後果請自行負責。

4. 本辦法如有未盡事宜,主辦單位保留修改、終止、變更活動內容細節之權利。

113-2 English Writing Competition Guidelines

I. Purpose:

The competition aims to inspire participants' writing potential, enhance their English writing skills, and cultivate critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. Through this event, participants will not only improve their language proficiency but also gain more confidence and experience in expressing their viewpoints and emotions. Additionally, the competition seeks to promote cultural exchange and encourage participants to better understand and utilize English within a global context. The competition provides a platform for students with ideas and vision to make a statement, and through participating in this school-wide event, individuals can make their academic journey stand out.

II. Content:

The content of the competition will be related to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Each essay must demonstrate clear logical structure, rich vocabulary usage, and fluent expression of language. It should thoroughly explore the selected topic and convey the author's independent perspective.

III. Eligibility:

  1. All currently enrolled students at Providence University (excluding exchange students), domestic students, international students, and graduate students are eligible to participate.
  2. The competition allows individual participation with a limited number of 50 spots.
  3. Writing time: 50 minutes. Late submissions will result in point deductions.
  4. The topic will be announced on the day of the competition.

IV. Scoring Criteria:

  • Content (organization, structure, relevance to the topic, clear and appropriate explanations, examples, use of diverse sentence structures, proper vocabulary choices, and coherence): 60%
  • English proficiency (accuracy, fluency, word choice): 40%

V. Prizes:

  • 1st Place: NT$6,000 and a certificate
  • 2nd Place: NT$4,000 and a certificate
  • 3rd Place: NT$3,000 and a certificate
  • Honorable Mention (3 winners): NT$2,000 and a certificate (per winner)

VI. Competition Rules:

  1. Participants must report to the competition location with their student ID at least 10 minutes before the start time. Late arrivals will be considered as forfeiting their participation.
  2. The competition will be an on-site, impromptu writing event. The topic will be announced at the start of the competition.
  3. Participants should bring their own writing supplies. Only blue or black ballpoint pens or fountain pens are allowed. Correction fluid or tape is permitted. Using other writing instruments will result in disqualification.
  4. All works must be written in English. Works that do not follow the prescribed format or content will not be considered for evaluation.
  5. Once seated after registration, participants are not allowed to leave the venue. Interaction or discussion with others during the competition is prohibited.

VII. Registration:

  1. Each participant must complete the online registration by April 14, 2025 (Monday). Registration form link: https://forms.gle/7Rirkss54vKo6r9cA
  2. Competition date: April 25, 2025 (Friday), 12:10-13:00, Room 109, St. Francis Building
  3. The award ceremony will be held on May 12, 2025 (Monday) during 12:10.

VIII. Important Notes:

  1. The organizing committee will send a confirmation email within 5 business days after receiving registration. To ensure eligibility, if you do not receive a confirmation email by the deadline, please contact the event organizer directly.
  2. Any violation of academic ethics will result in disqualification from the competition and award eligibility.
  3. Submitting plagiarized works is strictly prohibited. If verified, the committee will cancel the participant's award eligibility, retrieve the prize money and certificate, and the individual will bear legal responsibility.
  4. The organizers reserve the right to modify, terminate, or change the details of the event if necessary.
